About Us.

We are a partly-community based organization who gives support to LGBTIQ+ refugees and single moms, doing specific activities separated for both communities. After we had to close our housing program due to financial issues, and we donated all our appartments to other organizations, we focused on promoting LGBTIQ+ rights, engaging people in the community and doing activities in which they can feel free to express themselves as they are.

Safe Place Greece is part of the larger organization Safe Place International, which gives different kind of support and services for the LGBTIQ+ community all around the world.

Our Mission.

Our main mission is to engage LGBTIQ+ refugees with a community that they can trust and in which they can be themselves, involving also cultural acknowledgment and interexchange, as the only thing that keeps together every member is their sexual orientation and/or their gender identity. Starting from that point, every other difference like language barrier, nationality or any kind of discrimination could be solve by understanding that every member has been discriminated due to their sexual orientation and/or gender identity, and that every member can trust each other.

We also offer specific activities and workshops with the scope of learning skills to use in the future, for example, a handyman workshop, hair dressing, make up, tailoring and sewing, massage… All this workshops are ran by proffesionals, and the idea is for them to learn the basic skills in order to be able to work either in Greece or in the country they want to live in, regardless if they are documented or not.

Target Group.

LGBTIQ+ refugees and single moms.
